Walking Tour of Florence

Walking tour in the rain. Our tour guide is in the tan coat. Apparently he also gave a tour to the Jersey Shore people and went to high school where Michelangelo lived once.

On A Lighter Note :)

My first day in Florence was long but it definitely ended on a good note! When we arrived it was bright, sunny and about 60 degrees. It was beautiful out and I was so excited! It was funny hearing everyone complain about how cold it was. I was too tired to try and explore though so I laid down for a few hours. When we did eventually decided to go out and explore it was raining and it hasn't stopped since.
We then went for a very nice dinner at a restaurant called Cipolla Rossa. They were very knowledgable about Gluten Free (or at least I assume so because they acted like they knew what they were doing and all of our food seemed GF)

Appetizer! It kinda tasted like goat cheese/sour cream on a fancy tortilla with balsamic vinaigrette and peppers on top.

And then dessert! Well we had pasta with a pesto sauce, tomatoes and capers then pork roast and potatoes. However I skipped all of that but some of the pasta and ate the dessert!
It was delicious and very very chocolatey.

These are my lovely roommates. This is the best they would pose for a picture. From the left it is Gianna (who is also GF), Taylor, and Brittany.

The Airport List

(If it doesn't make sense, blame it on lack of sleep and illness)

1. Getting through the Detroit Airport is much easier than imagined, hence me spending three hours walking around in circles of Terminal A because I didn't want to sit.

2. The person sitting next to me on flight 1, Mohamed, was very eager to tell/assure me that he did in fact live in the United States with his family. He then showed me adorable pictures of his children.

3. I can't sleep on airplanes.
4. Gluten Free Food is edible. But just edible.

5. Hint: No matter how organized you think you are, you will be wrong. Everything will be nearly impossible to get when you think you want it. Then you decide you didn't want it that badly.
6. You start to feel sick.

7. You meet a whole bunch of other people going to Florence and follow them through the twists and turns of the Paris airport and then survive a panic attack of did I just leave the airport?? when you are dumped into a set of doors that lead to the outside. (No you just were led to busses to take you to your plane).
8. You can't find a drinking fountain anywhere. You are very thirsty.
9. You are so tired and don't want to leave your new found companions so you don't get a drink (AWEFUL IDEA!).
10. You get on the second plane.
11. You start to feel awful and try and convince yourself you are just dehydrated. (Your hand is starting to crack...)
12. The flight attendant gives you water. You attempt to drink it slowly to not upset your already upset stomach.
13. You fail miserably and spend the rest of the plane ride and the next few hours making sure everyone knows you had food poisoning.
14. Scratch number 4. Gluten free airplane food is not edible!
15. Survive the bus ride with out giving yourself away. Do so as soon as you step on to the sidewalk to pick up your luggage.
16. Lesson of the day: DO NOT EAT AIRPLANE FOOD! Just bring your own...
